It must be around 10 P.M. Suddenly the phone rang. I couldn’t recognize the number, but however, I had picked it. With a very lofty voice, a woman spoke out when she asked me, “Mam I am the mother of …, your student. Can I speak to you now?” I promptly answered her, “Yes, sure tell me… but your voice sounds to be very feeble!” She continued, “Mam, I and my husband suddenly had fallen very sick. It’s not possible for me to work out like before in such a smooth manner. This year is your student’s final year.
Having thought many times, I have come to a decision. You have to promise me you will keep my words.” After a little silence, I had answered, “Don’t worry, everything will be fine. Tell me without hesitation what you want to say to me…”
The student’s mother said,” Mam, you are not only a teacher to us but also a teacher is the mother of a student. And, we and our family together believe you have achieved that position. Please promise me and my husband that you will do whatever you best can do to my daughter as her guardian on her academic to make her ICSE class X result to be appreciable…at least she can stand in her life!”
Having without any word for some time, I said, “Thanks for your words to a teacher, and I promise you that surely as much can be done l shall certainly perform my duties on helping your daughter’s result good, according to her capabilities…More, your daughter is good and understandable. Surely we will be rewarded.
